New Rules Proposal
So, your idea is to just let directors determine where a player should play and for 3-5 years. So say some bubble D/C players get together and stack their D team and, by your idea, get to dominate D class for 3-5 years. You classify teams, on a year to year basis. If you win the Beam or The Miller Lite or any of the other 30+ team tourneys, then you are ready to go up. It's like winning a state. More like winning a regional with the Beam. Whatever the case, you can't give people 3-5 year cards. Things happen, people get hurt, older, quit taking the game seriously and quit taking BP. Others go the opposite direction and improve. Whatever way they go, it's got to be done yearly and there needs to be some criteria, on paper, so that it is across the board. I will use myself as an example, I'm almost 46, haven't hit a homerun in tournament game since Moby Dick was a minnow, and have lost more than a step defensively and my arm could be compared to a gun, a red rider BB type. I could certainly be qualified as an E player at this point of my career. Do I think I'm an E player, my ego says no, but my body and play say yes. I feel I'm still a D player and could play C but would be a liability in the field with harder shots coming my way. So, how do they classify me? There will be dozens of players that will fall into the gray area without a written set of ideas to follow. You must also have an appeals process set up. It will take lots of time and energy to set up the process and even more to implement it. And you certainly can't let it last for 3-5 years, that is absolutely ludicrous. The best way is still by team. It will be the only way to prevent year after year domination by one team.
