New Rules Proposal
I don't think its a bad idea and one that has been mentioned for 10 years. The reason it hasn't been done, it's just going to be too difficult, so I agree with Wayne. What criteria are you going to use? Age? HR power? Defense? You have to establish criteria and then try to classify 2,500 ball players. Just not feasible. To me, they need to establish a criteria on what gets a team bumped. Something like, win any of the big tourneys (Jim Beam, Bash for Cash, Miller Lite, etc.) and you are bumped for the next year. Place top 3 in any two of those you are bumped. Top 8 in the state, automatic bump. Win any 3 tourneys in a year you are bumped. Cut the number of people that can drop to lower class to one per team. Make it mandatory that people that are bumped have to play the higher class for one year. Only problem is this needs to be nation wide. You only have to look at Alley Cats and realize that is not happening in Alabama. Not fair to our state to be one of the toughest and most strict states about bumping and other states obviously don't care. Only hurts us come national time. Anyway, same old arguement that has been going on since all this started 10 years ago when Wayne and I played on Grand Slam and we got bumped, in the middle of the year no less. You have to put something on paper and let teams know what the criteria for getting bumped is. Once you make it black and white, teams will know what is going to happen and there will be no shock and awe factor. Plus it will be easier to enforce nation wide and get every state on the same page and not just Tennessee.
