Just my opinion........ Allow me to offer my "aged" comments from 30 plus yrs. I have played in all classes except A and in every position--inc many (and still) pitch. the rules have changed many times and will continue too but what will never change is the attitudes! Not all are bad or good but when you throw, in the arrogance you get a bad mix. No rules are going to help if the players decide they want to hit at the pitcher--with or without HRs. As has been said, most players know how to hit the middle and I have seen MANY that do try. I have been on the field as the pitcher was carried off too. Until rules are made to better protect them, todays players can use the middle as an excuse for home runs, mis-hits, oops, etc. It boils down to the attitudes being changed instead of bragging about hitting someone like it is a trophy!
